Here is a Medical Writer's Group.

Share or find medical and health writing tips, jobs, courses, organizations, market salaries, resources for freelance writers, and more. Or just make friends.

Are you interested in medical and health writing or editing? Then the MWN is for you. Join our network (it's free) and interact with like-minded people around the world.

As a member, you can participate in the forum discussions, create special interest groups (editing, regulatory, etc.), and even share photos and videos (a conference recording, for example).

You can add or look for medical writing job opportunities in the Jobs group.

I continue to write some Medical Notes. The link will take you to Medical News. It's a Ning platform where we could start a group to talk "pulmonary" or "spirometry". I haven't made the decision yet. Here is the presentation of the group.

Welcome to Talk Medical
, a new service from News-Medical.Net.

Please feel free to use this service to post relevant news from your organization or company, post events you are involved in or feel would be of interest to the wider community, blog to your heart's content on current health issues, whether they be mainstream news or the latest journal articles or simply just health stories you'd like to share with the world.

Ultimately the more you use Talk Medical, the more useful it will become for all.

The same applies for the KK-Network!

We're going to take this discussion into a new direction. There is a need for a more conversational environment in the field of Medicare. At the same time, we've to walk a narrow line between, how specific the themes are in relation to the generalities. The challenge is which areas to select.

* Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
* Hand surgery
* Healthcare economics
* Neurophysiology
* Occupational health
* Pulmonary function
* Spirometry

How can we get people to have a conversation about health care issues and specific themes? How many languages should we support?

1. English
2. Spanish
3. French
4. German
5. Swedish
6. Finnish

This isn't an easy choice either. The number of languages add to the complexity of the system.

Good Morning folks, we are driving to Helsinki Vantaa today for a meeting about CTS - carpal tunnel syndrome blogging. KK-Net has been doing that for one and a half year for Mediracer Oy, Oulu. The idea is to give both visibility and face to a high-tech company with a world-class product. We're also meeting people at Technopolis to discuss office space for international operations. More about this later this week.

Tutustuin äsken HAI-hankkeeseen, jonka puikoissa on Posintra Itä-Uudeltamaalta. Hankkeen vetäjänä on Astaterhikki Salonen, jonka blogiin tutustuin tällä viikolla.

Olen jälleen kerran uudessa, jännittävässssä elämäntilanteessa. Olen aloittanutn lokakuussa työt Itä-Uudellamaalla, Kehitysyhtiö Posintra Oy:ssä. Vastuullani on kolmivuotinen, EAKR-rahoitteinen hanke, HAI=hyvinvointiyrittäjyyden aktivointi Itä-Uudellamaalla. Se on osa suurempaa, kuuden maakunnan LEHTI-hanketta, Astaterhikki kertoo blogissaan.

HAI - Hyvinvointiyritysten aktivointi Itä-Uudellamaalla

HAI on Euroopan aluekehitysrahaston (EAKR) rahoittama kolmivuotinen (2009-11) hanke, joka keskittyy hyvinvointialan yrittäjien toimintaedellytysten, yhteistyön ja liiketoiminnan kehittämiseen Itä-Uudellamaalla.

HAI on osa suurempaa kokonaisuutta, LEHTI-hanketta, jonka muut osallistujat ovat Lahden tiede- ja yrityspuisto Oy, Turun amk, Hämeen amk, Kaakkois-Suomen sosiaalialan osaamiskeskus Socom Oy ja HyRI – Hyvinkää-Riihimäen kuntayhtymä. LEHTI-hankkeen kokonaisuuden koordinoijana toimii Lahden tiede- ja yrityspuisto Oy.

• Yhteistyöverkostojen ja palvelukeskittymien synnyttäminen ja kehittäminen/klusterit
• Liiketoiminnan kehittämisen työkalut
• Innovaatioseteleiden käyttö liiketoiminnan kehittämisessä
• Yhteiset markkinointikanavat ja -tavat
• Innovaatioareenat/STOK (sähköisen talotekniikan osaamiskeskus)
• PPP (julkisen, yksityisen ja kolmannen sektorin) yhteistyö
• Uudet toimintatavat

Wellness and Healthcare is the smallest group in this Ning. I wrote today about Videra and their Welleness-TV for elderly people. My blog is in Finnish but we can talk about Videra in English if you like to know more.

I did find this comment in a Facebook group: "So why do carpal tunnel sufferers, employers, and insurance carriers fall for all of these worthless remedies? Simple. In the United States, one can sell just about anything if it’s packaged right, even if it is worthless. CARPAL TUNNEL IS BIG BUSINESS."

The comment isn't very specific. Any idea what it could mean? CTS is a big problem. People might have to wait a long time to get a diagnosis and the hand surgery. That's why many other cures, therapies, treatment formulas are available for US patients/clients. How about European and Asian countries?

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome fact sheet.

You're working at your desk, trying to ignore the tingling or numbness you've had for months in your hand and wrist. Suddenly, a sharp, piercing pain shoots through the wrist and up your arm. Just a passing cramp? More likely you have carpal tunnel syndrome, a painful progressive condition caused by compression of a key nerve in the wrist.
