Elias and Juha, I'd like to say that Macarena Pallares did a great job this summer to get us out from "the box". We discussed important issues in our small internal Basecamp, but that was an internal talk. You are both great scientists and you need a global audience. Keep on talking. We've a lot of people to invite to this network.

Greetings from Kuopio!

In order to investigate the microbe world more precisely on the grass root level, we have developed at my company, Finnoflag Oy, the innovative Portable Microbe Enrichment Unit (PMEU) which generates novel kind of information about microbe function in record time. This device has been used for more than 100 industrial projects, and it has been solving a lot of microbiological and biochemical questions.

To have a close hold on the process developments especially in the field of paper and pulp process hygiene control, we together with Helge Keitel and Juha Mentu developed the concept BIOTOUCH. It means in practise that we have been generating the concept with practical means to understand and follow up process microbiology in a revolutionary way. This follow up can take place, instead of artificial medium, in the actual biochemical environment, where then any individual touch is able to redirect and correct the microbe process development into the right direction.
