I'm looking at new business prospects in Germany. Berlin could be a good starting point. I'll write more about this later. The picture is here to remind me about where to get started.

I try to understand where this world is heading. This week has involved a lot of travel. The traveling explains my purchase of a new computer with 3G broadband communication wherever I'm.

Didn't have much time to socialize. My brother Helmer is in Australia and wonders why I didn't have the chance to skype with him.

Yesterday, I was working with the innovation train project. My focus was on Helsinki - Hyvinkaa - Riihimaki - Hameenlinna - Tampere.

I'll continue to add new dimensions and stations for the tour to Oulu and back.

As Google begins to see a recovery of its own, the company has begun hiring again and is looking for companies to buy -- both activities that had been held in check for the last year.

Google has been conducting a worldwide sales meeting this week in New York, and Eric Schmidt, the company’s chief executive said, “the mood was very, very positive.”

“The worst is behind us, and we’re seeing aspects of recovery,” Mr. Schmidt told a group of reporters Wednesday morning at the company’s offices in downtown Manhattan. “We’re increasing our investment and hiring rate in anticipation of a recovery.”

The low point for Google’s business, Mr. Schmidt said, came in the spring. Things started picking up in June. Europe did not trail the United States, as many economists had expected, he noted.

Since the recession hit, schoolteachers, interior designers, computer technicians and other people with degrees and jobs you never thought would fail them have fallen victim to what a columnist calls the Great Millennium Recession.

What should be done to re-construct the deep-down-in-recession-world?

Teamwork explained in Finnish. Who would like to explain?

Finland is a large and sparsely populated country. Distances between homes and offices are large outside the Helsinki region. Building wired broadband to connections to every home in Finland is quite challenging in some parts of our country. Nevertheless, Finland can be called a true 3G nation.

Kuhmo is a city in North-Eastern region of Finland with a reasonable low count of citizens but maybe the greatest area of all Finnish cities.

I red the local newspaper KUHMOLAINEN and found the following piece of news:

A society, intended in to support small local companies called "Kuhmon Yrittäjät" is asking all micro (< 10 employers) companies in Kuhmo to join a project which will help these companies to construct their marketing and communication tools in Internet. Advices and instructions for the home pages and e-mail systems will be delivered to them by the project. This support, including also domain name, cost only 200..300 € for the company. As an option, companies can also construct an Internet shop with only 300..500 €.

Deadline of the registration: 18.6.2009. Contact person: riitta.karikko@kuhmo.fi.

Behind this project are the city of Kuhmo, local enterprisers and TE Center of Kainuu area.
