A website is a collection of web pages and related content that is identified by a common domain name and published on web server. A website is of two different types, Static Website & Dynamic Website. Based on user needs and business demands you can go with a static or dynamic website.

About Static Website:

Generally a static website is made up of HTML , CSS and JavaScript codes. HTML is a code used to create pages and make them functional, which is designed to be displayed in a web browser. The code used to make them visually appealing is known as CSS, a simple mechanism of adding styles like font, color, spacing to the web document. Whereas JS (javascript) makes HTMl pages more dynamic and interactive.

Combinations of these pre-built codes are deployed on the server under a particular domain. Users can request respective URLs to call the website from a browser; based on the request the static website is loaded.

Pros:

  • Fast loading time and display webpage quickly
  • More secure and less vulnerable.
  • Setups are simple and easy to handle.
  • Hosting and maintenance costs are moderate.
  • Static websites are easy to develop as they contain few pages, mostly preferable for small business.

Cons:

  • If any changes need to be made, require developer’s assistance.
  • Less engaging than interactive sites, hence they require frequent updates.
  • Time consuming if any changes to update on each page.

 

About Dynamic Website:

The websites which contain multiple web pages that are generated at the real time based on the user interaction with the system. These pages contain web scripting codes like PHP, JSP, ASP, Node and others. Dynamic websites are done with the combination of Client Side and the server side Scripting.

Client-Side scripting, involves code that is executed by the end user from the web browser, using scripting language like JS. This scripting is responsible for rendering changes to the webpage based on end user interaction.

Server-Side Scripting, the code that is executed by the server before sending to the end user’s browser. Based on these actions like login operation, payment gateway interaction, orders are placed, form submission and more. Dynamic pages on the other hand access information from the database. The websites that access information from the database are known as database driven websites.

These pages are designed with the webpage responsiveness, so that the end user can view on multiple modes of the system like mobile, Tab, desktop in different resolution modes. Personalised contents, social media integrations, dynamic visuals and animation can be interactively done at Dynamic websites.

Pros:

  • Great Interactive with the user’s.
  • Easy to manage using Content Management System
  • Updating our business needs can be made easy and user friendly.

Cons:

  • Less secure and more vulnerable.
  • More complex to setup and deploy based on functionality.
  • Maintenance is expensive
  • Load time is slower.

Static Websites as well as Dynamic websites have unique features; these websites are mostly used for business oriented purposes. Users can choose any type based on what their business Demands. For small businesses it is recommended to go with Static website to display their products or service to generate leads. For Online Business like e-commerce, sales and services kind of Business demands and prefers dynamic websites it is highly recommended.
