I visited the Technology City Oulu during the weekend and was amazed about some new ideas the city developers are working on.
The Nokia impact is clearly visible, not only in the center of Oulu, but in the surrounding communities integrated to the greater Oulu area. I had no idea about the real estate evolution takin place in places like Kiiminki.
The picture above visualizes a plan to build apartments in those silos. I'm following this project with great interest. "Silos" is a dirty word in the field of social media, but they are fun in the field of architecture.
The old industrial structure is fading away and how open-minded real-estate developers are looking at objects where the old industrial past could be transformed into contemporary new.
Recycling concrete ideas and objects isn't such a bad idea at all.
