South India covers almost the entire Indian peninsula, which starts from northern plain to Kanyakumari in the south. The southern region is a hub of numerous cultural and traditional activities. Sri Parthasarathy temple in Tamil Nadu is dedicated to Lord Krishna. It was built by the Pallavas in the 8th century and is one of the oldest surviving temples in Chennai. Kailasanatha is one of the earliest temples and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It was built by a Pallavan king in the 7th century. Some of the famous temples in south India are Sri Ekambarnathar temple, Kamaskhi Amman, Meenakshi temple in Tamil Nadu and Ambalapuzha temple, Guruvayour temple in Kerala.
