I would like to share with you some tips on how to start your writing. I use it myself, and hope you will find it useful as well.
Essays - this is a written work, that should contain methodical analysis and evaluation of some topic or problem. For example, with our competition NEISSER, you are invited to demonstrate and prove the "interestingness" of some experiment (although, it must be said, this is a rather unusual formulation of the problem for the essay).
While writing an essay, it is easy to fall into one of two extremes - to describe the facts, bypassing the interpretation (fearing its subjectivity), or vice versa, to describe your personal opinion without backing it with facts. The art of writing essays consists precisely in finding this balance, in the ability to express one's position, logically.
Usually a good essay gives a description and discussion of several positions or points of view, and then on their basis a conclusion is drawn reflecting the author's informed opinion. Therefore, before writing an essay, you always need to formulate what you think about what you write, what your position is, what idea you will be defending. In the case of our essay, everything is simpler - in fact, the conclusion is already made ("This experiment is interesting to me"), it remains to describe why.
Begin work on the essay is with a careful reading of his name or job. What are you invited to do? Describe, compare, discuss? What question is asked? Do you understand all the terms at this stage? Based on this information, you can start thinking through the text plan.
Next comes the turn of the plan and selection of material. Refer to the literature, try to make an approximate picture of what you will write about. At this stage, you need to make a plan containing the main topics that you plan to raise. Perhaps this plan will be changed later. If your essay involves analyzing a large number of sources (which is not necessary in our competition), after this initial plan is drawn up, it is worth starting to collect and systematize the links based on it - in connection with what and what you will refer to.
The already written text must be checked and edited. Have you answered the question posed? Is it worth changing some fragments in places, in order for the proof to be more consistent? Do not you need to shorten the text to keep within the established limit (we have 500 words)? Is the text literate, is it a misprint? After own verification, the text with the same questions can be shown to indifferent friends - at this stage a fresh look will never interfere.
